Building

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve written anything here, and it’s been quite a year to say the least! I’m sure you’re all feeling it, and looking forward to getting back to some sense of normalcy, I sure am.

In case you’ve wondered, I haven’t just been sitting around in my comfy pants binge watching Netflix (though there was some of that;) and waiting for things to open up again, in fact I was presented with a design challenge that has taken most of my time this past year, and I can finally start to share it with you as it comes to a close…I designed a HOUSE! No really a HOME, with a STUDIO!!!

That was never something I’ve even dreamed of doing, and I always thought the gazillion decisions of such a project would definitely overwhelm me. Although my husband and I have renovated many homes along the way, building? from the ground up? no way. But I’m here to say, they didn’t overwhelm me, and the process has been really exciting and actually fun to see happen and come to life before our eyes.

It was an unexpected chain of events that set us on this journey, including losing my mom in March of last year, and moving closer to help my dad with things. Our builder has been absolutely wonderful (I think he’s an angel) and the workers are all so skilled at their trades, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the way things have moved along and come together in spite of the pandemic.

So yeah, I haven’t managed a lot of new paintings while in the moving transition process, and we’re not finished yet, but I can’t wait to get resettled and back to work in the new studio! I’ll keep you posted on the adventures, and thanks for following me in my journey!

(and if you’re in SW MI and looking for a builder, DM me for info;)
