Sharing

I am very blessed to be a part of a local art school in my community that is housed in a super cool historic fire station, as one of several instructors teaching art of all mediums, to all ages, "Art for the Curious as well as the Serious" (you can find a link on my contact page). This has been a learning adventure as well as a teaching adventure on my part, but as I often tell my students, I take almost as many classes as I teach at various other venues as well, because there's always more to learn!  It's not easy to make it as an artist as more than just a hobby, as most artist's will certainly tell you, you have to do it all, create, exhibit, sell, promote, teach, build, make, share.

There's a caption of a quote on my 'bulletin board of inspiration' in my studio that says "Ancora Imparo" which means: "Always Learning".  I will always be a lifetime learner, there is always more to learn, try and explore!  So although sometimes I'm not sure if I'm able to get across to my students how I do what I do, (which is much more difficult than just doing it usually), I think it's important to share what we've learned along the way, that might save someone else years of struggle and frustration through trial and error, and error, and error (as I did)... that might be avoided by a simple suggestion, such as what kind of paper I use, and why, (before you try 50 different kinds!).  I try to think of what I wish someone had told me years ago, even if it doesn't work for you, I hope that some of my suggestions save someone some time and money in their own creative journey.  Because for some reason only the Lord knows, we were called to this, and because I do believe we need beautiful things in the world, like art, and music, and theater, and dance, ...and gourmet food!

Keep painting, keep learning, keep practicing, we're all on our own journey!  "Ancora Imparo!
