Based in Southwest Michigan, Kristina is a Botanical Artist and Natural Science Illustrator sharing her love of nature, art, and design through vivid, detailed watercolor depictions of the natural world.

With a background in advertising and graphic design, Kristina has also been practicing watercolors for over 20 years and in 2011 went on to complete an intensive study in Traditional Botanical Illustration with the Society of Botanical Artists-UK (SBA-DLDC-8). She has since completed continuing education programs through Cornell University Lab of Ornithology, University of Newcastle, and masterclasses by some of her favorite accomplished botanical artists around the globe in an effort to always keep learning and growing her art.

Kristina now devotes most of her artwork to botanical watercolor studies for publication and print, educational graphics, contract artwork, graphic/ textile/ surface design, local and national gallery exhibits, fine art fairs and artist markets, and teaching these art techniques to others through local venues.

With the current unrest of the world, it’s more important then ever to remember to breathe, practice self care, and meditate on positive things. Connecting with nature is one of the best avenues for this! By taking a walk outside, sitting to draw or paint in a sketchbook, focusing on the amazing details of a found object, possibly planting a small garden, or finding ways to bring the outdoors inside, can help to restore balance and peace in times of turbulence.

And finally, some fun facts

01.

I didn’t begin this journey into botanical watercolors until my children were grown, so it’s never too late to learn something new and pursue your dreams!

02.

Now I’m a grandma to several awesome little people that love to do art class with me and get creative with my colors and fancy designer tools.

03.

Gardening would be my next most favorite thing to do, next to drawing and painting, digging in the dirt is always good for the soul.

04.

Gardening also leads to growing food and herbs for culinary cooking adventures. I love to gourmet cook with my husband, host dinner parties for friends, entertain for family holidays, and even throw a quite fabulous tea party on occasion!
